What it is

An eau de parfum set from independent maker Laurel Bath House: two full-size 50 mL bottles — Mourning Wood and Cuffed — composed as a pair.

What it does

Gives you a way into niche fragrance without the commitment issues. Wear each scent on its own, or layer them into the warm, nostalgic blend they were designed to become.

Who it's for

Anyone fragrance-curious. If you’ve only ever worn whatever was on sale at the drugstore — or you own twelve bottles and want a layering project — this meets you where you are.

How to use

How much: 1 to 2 sprays

1. Start with one. Pick Mourning Wood or Cuffed and wear it alone first — 1 to 2 sprays on pulse points (wrists, neck). Give it an hour; fragrance changes as it warms up.

2. Then layer. One spray of each, same spots, and let them meet on your skin. The pair was built for this — together they land as one warm, nostalgic blend.

3. Less is more. These are eau de parfum, not body spray. You should discover it on yourself through the day, not announce it in the elevator.

Where it fits: Last step of everything. Fragrance goes on after skincare, on bare skin or over an unscented moisturizer.

Inside the formula

Oud wood

A deep, resinous wood. It's the weight in Mourning Wood — the note that makes it feel like evening.

Black rose

Rose with the sweetness turned down. Dark, a little smoky, never powdery.

Upcycled cedar

Dry, pencil-shaving cedar, reclaimed rather than newly cut. Keeps Mourning Wood from getting heavy.

Sun-bleached leather

Leather without the motorcycle jacket — softened, warm, worn-in.

Tobacco

The dried-leaf kind, not the ashtray kind. Warmth and a little sweetness.

Raspberry

A bright top note that keeps Cuffed playful before the leather settles in.

Full ingredient list
Laurel Bath House doesn’t publish full ingredient lists for their fragrances — most niche houses don’t. What we can tell you: these are eau de parfum, which means a higher perfume-oil concentration than eau de toilette, so they sit closer and last longer. 50 mL per bottle.

Why we stock it

Why we stock it: this is the set we hand to anyone who says “I don’t know anything about fragrance.” Two real bottles, a built-in lesson in layering, and nothing about it feels precious. If you’ve ever wanted to be a person who wears scent, start here.

About the brand

Laurel Bath House

Functional fragrance, made to be lived in.

Laurel Bath House is an independent fragrance house. Their thing is functional fragrance — scent designed to be part of your day, not a special-occasion spray. The Layer Packs are their signature: two eau de parfums built to be worn on their own or layered into one blend.

Most niche fragrance asks you to commit to one expensive bottle and hope. Laurel's Layer Packs do the opposite — two full 50 mL bottles that teach you how to layer as you go. It's the most approachable way into real perfumery we've found, from a maker we'd hand you in person.

Fragrance questions, answered

How long will it last on skin?

These are eau de parfum, so expect several hours — most people get a full workday from 1 to 2 sprays. Scent lasts longer on moisturized skin and shorter in dry air. One honest note: you’ll stop noticing it before other people do. That’s normal — it doesn’t mean it’s gone.

Can I really layer them, or is that marketing?

Really. The two scents were composed as a pair — Mourning Wood brings the dark woods and rose, Cuffed brings the leather and tobacco, and together they read as one warm blend. Start with one spray of each; adjust the ratio once you know which side you lean toward.

Is this for men or women?

Neither, specifically. The notes — woods, leather, tobacco, a little raspberry — don’t lean traditionally masculine or feminine. Wear what you like the smell of.
